October 18: On this day in 1990, the Leafs were blanked 3-0 in Chicago, extending their winless game streak from the start of the season to seven straight games. The Leafs finished the 1990-91 season in 2nd to last place in the 21-team NHL with a dismal record of 23-46-11.

October 18: On this day in 2003, the Leafs won their first game in four starts of the 2003-04 season at Montreal, 1-0. The Leafs would go on to amass a team record 103 points and finish the season at 45-24-10-3, good enough for 3rd place in the Eastern Conference.
