July 13: On this day in 1999, Jonus Hoglund was signed by the Leafs as a free agent. Hoglund played four years in Toronto and had two consecutive 20+ goal seasons. By his third year in Leafland, Hoglund's goal production fell off dramatically. The Leafs made the playoffs in each of the four seasons that Hoglund was part of the team, but his playoff production was always mostly disappointing. At one point, the Leafs tried to trade Hoglund to the Boston Bruins for a junior prospect at the trade deadline, but the transaction fell through after a mal-functioning fax machine on the Leafs end.
