August 12: On this day in 1983, the Leafs acquired enforcer Basil McRae from the Quebec Nordiques in exchange for an unknown Richard Turmel. McRae only played 4 games in a Leaf uniform between 1983 and 1985. He had no goals, no assists, but 19 minutes in penalties. Later in his career as a Minnesota North Star, McRae led the NHL with 351 minutes in penalties in 1989-90. 

August 12: On this day in 1985, the Leafs lured one of the three Stastny brothers away from the Quebec Nordiques. Marian, the oldest of the three, signed with Toronto as a free agent. He only played one season with the Leafs, his last in the NHL and registered a respectible 53 points in 70 games.
