August 10: On this day in 1924, Frank Dunlap was born in Ottawa, Ontario. Dunlap played 15 games with the Leafs during the 1943-44 season, but only home games. His law studies required that he remain in Toronto at all times. As a law student, Dunlap earned the nickname "Judge". His NHL career included but one assist. He passed away in October of 1993.

August 10: On this day in 1981, the Leafs acquired aging veteran Don Luce from the Los Angeles Kings for Bob Gladney and a 6th round draft choice. Luce had been one of the top defensive centers and penalty killers in the NHL in his many years with the Bufffalo Sabres. In all, Luce played only 39 games for the Leafs in 1981-82 and then retired.
