September 24: On this day in 1950, ex-Leaf Dan Maloney was born in Barrie, Ontario. In a game in 1975 as a Detroit Red Wing at the time, Maloney beat up Leaf defenseman, Brian Glennie so badly, he was taken to hospital with a concussion and missed two games. Maloney was banned from playing again in Toronto for two years. The Leafs must of liked his toughness. He later became a Leaf player for 5 seasons and the Leafs head coach for 2 seasons in the mid-80's.
