On This Day September 3rd.

September 3: On this day in 1970, the Bob Pulford era in Toronto came to an end after 14 seasons when "Pully" was traded to the Los Angeles Kings for Garry Monahan and Brian Murphy. Pulford won four Stanley Cups with the Leafs as one of the most complete players of his time. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.

September 3: On this day in 1987, the Leafs executed their biggest trade of the decade by sending their former captain Rick Vaive along with Steve Thomas and Bob McGill to Chicago for Ed Olczyk and former 54 goal scorer Al Secord. Olczyk went on to have the best years of his career as a Leaf, but Secord did not pan out in Toronto.
