On This Day May 27th.

May 27: On this day in 1974, the Leafs acquired right-winger Gary Sabourin from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for goalie Eddie Johnston. Sabourin played one season for Toronto, scoring 5 goals and adding 18 assists in 55 games before being traded again the following summer.

May 27: On this day in 1993, Toronto captain Wendel Clark became the first and only Leaf to date to record a hat trick in the month of May. The Leafs came back from a 4-2 deficit in the 3rd period of Game 6 of the Conference Finals, but Wayne Gretzky and the L.A. Kings spoiled the show as Gretzky scored the overtime winner to seal a 5-4 L.A. victory and force a Game 7. A controversial non-call on a Gretzky high stick on Doug Gilmour in overtime has had Leafs fans upset ever since.
