On This Day June 2nd.

June 2: On this day in 1965, Russ Courtnall was born in Duncan, British Columbia. Courtnall was the Leafs first round draft choice, 7th overall in 1983. He played in over 300 games as a Leaf between 1984 and 1988 and put up some solid numbers, including 3 consecutive 20+ goal seasons. In November of 1988, he became part of one of the most unpopular Leaf trades of all time when he was sent to Montreal in exchange for tough guy, John Kordic whose troubles off the ice were well documented. Kordic was shipped out a couple of years later for a 5th round draft choice.
