June 21: On this day in 1951, goaltender Ron Low was born in Birtle, Manitoba. Low's entry into the NHL was with a weak Leaf team in 1972-73 that failed to make the playoffs. It was his only season in Toronto. In 42 games, Low compiled a record of 12 wins, 24 losses and 4 ties.
June 21: On this day in 1997, the Leafs made Jeff Farkas their first draft choice, 57th overall in the third round. Toronto had traded away their first round choice to the Islanders who selected Roberto Luongo 4th overall. The Leafs had also traded their 2nd pick. Farkas' NHL career began with the leafs during the 2002 playoffs when he scored a goal in three games. In 8 more regular season games with the Leafs over the next two seasons, he failed to score another goal. He was traded to Vancouver for Josh Holden in 2002. Holden played six games as a Leaf and had one goal.
