August 24: On this day in 1933, Wally Maxwell was born in Ottawa, Ontario. Maxwell's NHL career began on January 10, 1953 and ended four nights later on January 14, 1953. The Leafs won both games, allowing Maxwell to boast that he never lost a game in the NHL.

August 24: On this day in 1945, Leafs defenseman Randy Murray was born in Chatham, Ontario. Murray was called up for three games during the 1969-70 season, making the scorsheet once with one two-minute penalty.
