July 8: On this day in 1995, the Leafs used their first round draft choice to select defenseman Jeff Ware, 15th overall. Ware played his first NHL game in October of 1996 but only played a total of 15 games as a Leaf before before being traded to Florida where he registered his first and only NHL point, an assist. The Leafs received David Nemirovsky in exchange for Ware who never played a game for Toronto.
