On This Day August 5th.

August 5: On this day in 1926, Cy Thomas was born in Dowlais, Wales. Thomas was the "other guy" the Black Hawks threw into the deal that saw superstar Max Bentley go to Toronto in exchange for five regular Leaf players in November, 1947. Thomas played only 8 games for the Leafs, all in November and December of 1947. His last Leaf and NHL game was on Christmas Day, 1947. As a Leaf, Cy Thomas had a goal and 2 assists.

August 5: On this day in 2005, Jason Allison was signed as a free agent by the Leafs. Allison played one season in Toronto and put up respectable offensive numbers with 60 points in 66 games. Of his 17 goals, 9 were on the power-play. His lack of overall quickness made him a defensive liability (minus-18) and he was not re-signed by Toronto for the 2006-07 season.
