August 14: On this day in 2009, PORT COLBORNE, Ont. -- Ted "Teeder" Kennedy, former Toronto Maple Leafs captain and Hockey Hall of Famer, passes away. He was 83. Kennedy died Friday morning of congestive heart failure at a nursing home in his hometown of Port Colborne, Ont. The first video below is his memorial tribute at the ACC.
He won the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1955 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966. In 1998, he was ranked number 57 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players.
