December 3: On this day in 1924, the Toronto St. Patricks played their home opener against the Boston Bruins. It was Boston's first season in the NHL and only their second game ever. The St. Patricks prevailed 5-3. It marked the sixth straight year that the St. Pats won their first home game of the season.

December 3: On this day in 1949, George Armstrong played in his first NHL game as a Leaf wearing jersey number 15. Twenty-one seasons later, the "Chief" had amassed a team record 1,187 NHL games, all in Blue & White. No other player can claim that they played for the Leafs in the 1940's, '50's '60's and '70's. In his career, Armstrong had 296 goals and 417 assists for a total of 713 points. To that, he added 60 playoff points as he captained the Leafs to four Stanley Cups in the 1960's. Armstrong was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1975. He wore jersey number 10 for most of his career and it was honoured by the Leafs in 1998.

December 3: On this day in 2009, Ron Wilson gets his 1200th career game and 560 wins. It happened with a decisive 6-3 win over the Columbus Bluejackets.

December 3: On this day in 2009, Tomas kaberle surpasses Lanny McDonald with 460 career points as a Maple Leaf. It happened with an assist on Phil Kessel's 10th. goal of the season in decisive 6-3 win over the Columbus Bluejackets
