September 14: On this day in 1946, former Leaf defenseman Chris Evans was born in Toronto, Ontario. Evans began his NHL career with the Leafs during the 1969-70 season playing two games on a defensively challenged Leaf team that finished in last place. With Evans on defense, the Leafs lost the back-to-back games in December by 6-3 scores in Montreal and Philadelphia. Evans had no points, but was on the ice for 5 goals against.

September 14: On this day in 1982, left-winger Rod Willard signed as a free agent with the Leafs. Willard played his first and only NHL game on November 17, 1982. He didn't record a point, but was on the ice for an even strength goal and completed his big league career as a minus-1.
