Ron Francis
February 10: On this day in 1999, Ron Francis scored 2 goals and added 3 assists as the Carolina Hurricanes edged the Leafs 6-5 in the second to last game ever played at Maple Leaf Gardens. Francis went on to become a Leaf at the 2004 trade deadline where he finished his long spectacular career as one of the game's greatest leaders. Of his total of 1,731 career games in the NHL, the final 12 regular season games were with Toronto where he added 10 points to his all-time top five total of 1,798. In his rookie season of 1981-82, he roomed with ex-Leaf great Dave Keon who was completing his illustrious career with Hartford. As at the end of the 2007-08 season, the Maple Leafs have an all-time losing record against Hartford/Carolina of W-32, L-39, T-11, OL-3 in 85 games played.
